Martell, the oldest of the great Cognac houses, sponsored the Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) for its Chinese Lunar New Year celebration dinner event at the Michelin-starred restaurant, Betony, on March 3, 2015. Eighteen of MOCA’s senior board members, donors and distinguished guests attended the event. As the Asian Marketing agency of Pernod Ricard USA’s Prestige division, which includes Martell Cognac, PCA planned and executed the event. It is part of Pernod Ricard USA Prestige division’s Asian American event sponsorship series in 2015.
This year marks the 35th Anniversary of MOCA. Founded in 1980, the museum is dedicated to preserving and presenting the history, heritage, culture and diverse experiences of people of Chinese descent in the United States. Martell was forged by passion and knowledge passed through the Martell family since 1715—creating cognacs that have been enjoyed for three centuries; thus, the brand celebrated the important and irreplaceable contributions of MOCA in promoting the Chinese American legacy across similar generations. In recognition of MOCA’s great service to the community, Martell sponsored an elegant, modern-American style dining and tasting experience for the evening, with its legendary L’Or de Jean Martell Cognac and other renowned marques, including Martell Création Grand Extra, Martell XO and Martell Cordon Bleu.
“You put on such a beautiful event. Our guests really could not have enjoyed themselves more. Between the food, the drinks and the presentation, it was just a wonderful night,” said Jessica Sonders, Special Events Manager at MOCA.
Following the dinner event, MOCA arranged a private tour for Pernod Ricard USA’s executives to visit the museum’s exhibitions, including its recent special show “Water to Paper, Paint to Sky: The Art of Tyrus Wong.”
