PCA’s new TV ad for Gilead Sciences may hit close to home for many families this holiday season. The story starts as a father watches over his family. Years pass by as a narrator says, “Before you can take care of your loved ones, you have to take care of your health.” It goes on to share a rather alarming statistic that “up to 1 in 4 people with [untreated] chronic hepatitis B develop liver problems such as cirrhosis and liver cancer.”
The video takes viewers through a few intimate family moments in the father’s life. The narrative continues as the father researches online about hepatitis B and visits a doctor. The story ends as the father hugs his son, who has grown up during the course of the commercial, and is moving away.
The 30-second TV spot was produced by PCA and directed by the agency’s copywriter and filmmaker Tony Au. It is part of Gilead Sciences’ hepatitis B awareness campaign highlighting their website HepBsmart.com. The TV spot will be airing nationally in multiple languages including Mandarin, Cantonese, and Vietnamese.
