This year we’re trying something new at PCA. Every month we’re having lunch together as a staff, celebrating an Asian tradition that may be unfamiliar to many members of our group.
Prince Jonah Kūhiō Kalanianaʻole
March was Hawaiian month. We celebrated Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalanianaole Day, a statewide holiday in Hawaii. It honors a man who was the heir to the throne of the Kingdom of Hawai’i. He later served as the state of Hawaii’s congressional delegate for 10 consecutive terms.
As an Asian American agency, each of us at PCA take our unique cultural heritage seriously. The year will entail a series of learning opportunities as we discover each other’s ethnic backgrounds through food and fellowship.
